Who We Are

AdventureMed is a wilderness medicine education provider.  We have been teaching current best practices in Wilderness Medicine for almost three decades and currently spans 7 continents. In 2005 AdventureMed was founded with the intention of educating practicing medical professionals, enabling them to prevent and effectively manage emergency medical situations in remote and resource poor environments. We have since grown our curriculum to offer not only the exclusive Wilderness Life Support for the Medical Professional, but also cutting edge courses in the outdoor professional realm of Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder to include accessible education for all levels of practice and need. We believe that high quality education is for everyone. Our curriculum is continually refined and updated, using evidence based medicine gathered from a variety of verified sources. Our patient care is centered around inclusive and trauma informed practices.

AdventureMed’s partnership model of locating and training high caliber licensees and instructors in various locations enables us to run courses at a lower price point without sacrificing quality of content or experience. Our courses are held across 7 continents

We aim for our company and curriculum to be inclusive of all despite race, religion, gender, ability or experience. Our hope is that through medical education, we can empower individuals from all backgrounds, resulting in the diversification of outdoor spaces. Whether desiring knowledge to safely enter the backcountry with yourself or others, guiding day trips on your local river, leading clients up 8000 meter peaks, or working in disaster relief, AdventureMed strives to equip those in the outdoors through providing a thorough and reliable education in the most accessible ways possible

Our Courses

AdventureMed offers a variety of medical curriculum tailored to the needs of the participant. Our courses range from lay rescuer classes; Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, and range to our CME modules and Wilderness Life Support for Medical Professionals.

These classes are offered in varying formats:
The most traditional is our Hosted courses, in which AdventureMed supplies an internal instructor and an individual signs up specifically for an AdventureMed course.

The other avenue of entry is through our Licensed Courses, in which individuals with the required qualifications and training host their own courses. These courses are generally run in areas not hosted by AdventureMed or that are tailored to specific user groups.

Both hosted and licensed courses are offered fully in-person, or in an online/in-person hybrid.

Our independent modules are offered fully online and are eligible for CME accreditation.

AdventureMed is led by a group of motivated outdoor enthusiasts with the belief that quality first response care is critical to keep our communities safer and can be provided regardless of environment or background. AdventureMed’s faculty is comprised of medical professionals with extensive experience in wilderness medicine. The majority of our faculty and staff have taught Advanced Wilderness Life Support courses extensively and have practiced wilderness medicine as both an avocation and occupation. We prioritize in-field experience and continued hands-on experience and education for our staff.
