Abdominal and Chest Injuries

Course Description:
Injuries to the Chest and Abdomen can be some of the most serious injuries that occur to a patient, and require proper evaluation and treatment, especially when in a wilderness setting where definitive treatment and evacuation can be severely delayed.
Objectives:
The purpose of this module is to help you develop a process that will allow you to overcome obstacles and provide the patient(s) with the appropriate care.
Upon completion, students should be familiar with:
- General chest and abdominal anatomy
- Evaluating chest or abdominal injuries
- Understanding what red flags can be looked for in determining the severity of the injury
- Understanding how to treat these injuries and which require immediate evacuation
